Citizenship education and its determinants: the study of secondary school students of ILAM- IRAN

Abstract:
This study investigates citizenship education and the effective factors on it in high school students at the city of ILAM-IRAN. The research method is descriptive and its design is correlated. The population consisted of all male and female school students in the city of Ilam. The Sample size based on sampling table of Morgan was 366 students who were selected Using stratified random sampling method regarding sex ratio in the target population. Citizenship questionnaire as a data collection tool was a researcher made one. The. Reliability (Chronbach، alpha=80) and validity of the questionnaire were found to be at on acceptable in a pilot study. Independent samples T-test and ANOVA were used to test the research hypotheses. based on this research results there were significant relationship between citizenship education with gender، field of study، socio – economic status of family، level of parent’s education and commitment to ethnic culture. There was no significant relationship between citizenship educations with student’s school grade.
