The Impact of Group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) on Depression Decrease and Hopefulness Increase of Empty Nest Syndrome

Increased longevity, quality of life and ability to live independently influence and support others to take care of her needs. Therefore, proper planning is necessary to deal with the situation appears to be an empty nest. This study examined the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral group therapy on reducing depression and increase life hope in the empty nest syndrome is Ghorveh. The population of the city Ghorveh all men and women who have left their children to be included. A sample of 24 people was selected using convenient sampling. In order to collect data from instruments Beck depression questionnaire 21 questions and Schneider life hope questionnaire was used. This quasi - experimental study is a pretest-posttest control group for data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics (covariance) was used. The results showed that the mean of scores for both post – tests in the experimental group were significantly lower than that control group, and Average life expectancy in the post-test scores of the experimental group significantly higher than the control group post-test scores. Cognitive behavioral group therapy is effective in reducing depressive and increase life hope empty nest syndrome.
