Abstract:
The stability analysis of rock slopes is carried out using limit equilibrium method, numerical and experimental methods and stereo-graphical images. The stability analysis method is selected based on local conditions, the type of failure potential, advantage, disadvantage, and the limitations of each factor. The slope stability under earthquake loading is investigated in the area next to Khersan3 dam construction site. An earthquake dynamic loading is one of the factors that can make rock slope unstable. Firstly, by reviewing the previous reports, the necessary information for the stability analysis of rock slope is extracted. The slope stability is carried out in three steps: first, stability analysis under static loading by using numerical methods; second, dynamic analysis under earthquake loading by applying UDEC software; and in the third step, the quasi-static stability analysis were carried out. This modeling software works on the basis of discrete element method and is applicable in environments where the discontinuities play an essential role on the behavior of rocks. The Analysis results show that the rock slope next to Khersan3 dam construction is unstable under earthquake loading and thus, it is essential to install a support system on it.
