Analyzing the Effect of Training on Taxi Driver's Traffic Knowledge and Efficiency (Case Study of Tehran City)

The growing population in cities and increasing demand for transportation has made public transportation a very favorite mode of transportation. Managing the operation of taxis as a paratransit mode of transportation is one of the most effective methods of mitigating congestion and traffic flow pauses. Taxi drivers, as the most important members of this mode of transportation, play a vital role. Qualified drivers who are acquainted with technical and social techniques improve the advantages of this mode of transportation in addition to enhancement of passenger safety. The Municipality of Tehran has developed relevant training courses in different regions in Tehran. In this research, the effect of these courses on drivers’ knowledge has been evaluated based on random samples collected from the taxi drivers. Also, correlation and effect of different parameters on drivers training level have been evaluated.
