Jules Verne: A Scientist Writer or a Writer Scientist

Message:
Abstract:
Undoubtedly، Jules Vern can be considered as the greatest writer who has started writing science-fiction stories. Readers and critics of his works hold the idea that science، in fact، has been introduced into literature by his works. His view towards industrial and scientific developments is positive and optimistic. Creation of various and novel machines as well as discovery of unknown places are indebted to his scientific novels. He depicts science as something positive، considering scientific advancements as human progress. In this article، we attempt to have a broad preview of his works، looking into the impacts of Verne''s works on the invention of scientists، living after him. In the end، we like to answer the following question: The science he presents in his works is the result of his own scientific research or just his own personal experience? In other words، can we consider him both a writer and a scientist؟
