Author(s):
Abstract:
One of the most important playwrights who had a great influence and control on post-war American drama was Arthur Miller. In his plays، Miller shows the contrasting values in American capitalistic society. In All My Sons، he shows that how materialistic values become much more important in a society where people are alienated from each other and are fragmented. He also portrays a society which is empty of moral values and its people are thinking of money and wealth. This article uses the Althusserian ideas to show how people are alienated from each other and are always thinking of their own benefit and that how they are addressed as Ideological State Apparatus. It is also shown that how capitalism alienates people from each other and how Miller has been successful in showing the problem.
