Study of the effect of surface layer Stability on the wave growth in the Northern Persian Gulf using WAVEWATCH III

In this study we have examined the wave-growth in different states of the surface layer by the use of wind data «ECMWF» in the North of Persian Gulf during the two months of January and July in 2007 by the help of WAVEWATCH III Model. In order to determine the amount of wave-growth، the height of «Meter». The Modeling results show that the indext wave height has been alternative during the two months in different states of the surface layer in a way that by exerting difference in sea-air temperature in transitory conditions of the surface layer، the indext wave height would be about 8222 times more than it in the neutral state. In other words the evaluation of wave height would be increased. Also in permanent condition of the surface layer، the index wave height is about 0217 as much as it in neutral state and the evaluation of wave height would be decreased. Therefore as a whole it can be concluded that by exerting different negative temperature، the border layer has more instability and wind speed has more effect on the wave growth and if the difference in temperature is positive، the permanent border layer will also be influenced but the wind speed has less effect on the wave growth.
