Message:
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between academic motivation and life satisfaction among high school students. Participants consisted of 483 high school students (boy's 220 and girls 263), who were selected by multistage cluster sampling in Shiraz city. Two scales were used: The Multidimensional Student’s Life Satisfaction (MSLS) and The Situational Motivational Scale (SIMS). Data were analyzed via Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions. The results of multiple regression showed that amotivation negatively and identified regulation as well as intrinsic motivation positively predicted self satisfaction, satisfaction from school, and satisfaction from environment. The findings of the study on the one hand provide good evidence on the effects of motivation on life satisfaction and on the other hand revealed that external motivation related to components of life satisfaction negatively while self determination motivation related to components of life satisfaction positively.
