Happiness and Joy in Jurisprudence, with Special Reference to Imam Khomeini's Viewpoints

Happiness and joy are among the mental and psychological needs of human beings, which leave their impacts on man’s personality. Moreover, happiness and joy can positively or negatively influence man’s life in the hereafter. This is why the issue of joy has been mentioned in the Islamic texts. In fact, the Quran, the Grand Prophet and the infallible Imams have attached special significance to this issue. Also Muslim scholars have discussed it in details. The present paper is an attempt to discuss Imam Khomeini’s viewpoints about happiness and joy. Indeed, his behavior, practice and speeches are the best example for the wayfarers of the path of truth. Attempts have been made to rely on his speeches and works in the light of Islamic texts to explain happiness and joy and their elements. Also happiness will be discussed in the light of his mystical viewpoints and its impact on the individual life. Moreover, happiness and joy have been pathologically discussed according to his viewpoints.
