Role of pickling in Purification of Animal Corpse with Special Reference to Imam Khomeini's Viewpoints

Among issues related to animal corpse, as one of the impure things, is permissibility or impermissibility of its usage. The religious scholars of the two schools of thought are divided into those who permit or prohibit, while both rely on the verses of the Quran and traditions in their arguments. However, traditions constitute the main basis of their arguments. Majority of the religious scholar have discussed the usage of animal corpse parts, particularly its skin. One viewpoint permits the usage of animal corpse skin, arguing that pickling purifies it. The main question of this paper is whether pickling purifies the skin of an animal corpse. In other words, the question is as follows: Is pickling a purifier? The religious scholars of the two schools of thought are divided into two groups; some agree while others do not; both offer their reasons. Attempts have been made to discuss these viewpoints to find out the true argument.
