E-readiness survey of university libraries in Isfahan

The aim of this research was to survey e-readiness of universities and higher education institutes libraries in Isfahan. A descriptive – survey method was used and statistical population of this research was the libraries of universities and higher education institutes in Isfahan in the academic year 2010-2011. By using random stratified sampling method seven libraries were selected and the research tool was four researcher-developed questionnaires: Top managers of libraries, libraries staffs, heads of universities IT department and libraries IT staffs. Findings/ The findings showed that accessibility and readiness of information and communication infrastructure, informational readiness, services and activities based on ICT, security of information, management, and cultural readiness were upper than average. Readiness of organizational features, communication with the external environment (other organizations), policies and strategies and legal rules relating to ICT, financial readiness, human resources, Information and communication technology usage were lower than average. There was significant difference between the means of dimensions and e-readiness of libraries was lower than average (mean=2.66). Final Result of this research revealed that libraries didn’t have enough e-readiness, and dimensions with down readiness need attention.
