Investigation of plant types and ecological units in Seimareh river catchment, Ilam and Lorestan provinces

Abstract:
Seimareh river (Karkheh branches) in terms of geographical and location in the Zagros mountain، in Ilam and Lorestan province that have remarkable diversity of vegetation and especial ecological groups، is important. The knowledge about ecological plant groups could lead us to management principles and identify the talent and potential of the area. The present study aimed to introduce the Seimareh catchment for its vegetation and ecological units within Ilam and Lorestan province. First we gathered the information، documents and topographical maps of area and then by use of flow field، aerial photos and satellite images، according to physiognomy method and by attention to composition of dominant species، the vegetation types were identified and marked on the map so that their combination of ecological units obtained. The results show that the 8 ecological units comprised of 35 plant types، which generally make up 69 percent of the area that we can inseparable them in 3 ecological groups under name of trees، shrubs and bushes.
