Love Prevails Over the Virtues

The present paper is based upon the following verse of Sa’di:Henceforth, Sa’di is neither wise nor consciousLove prevails over the virtuesFirst of all the author analyses the term “becharbid (prevail)” or “bechasbid (stick)”in some of the versions and commentaries of Sa’di’s Lyrics. Following this, he is after answering to this question that what the meaning of the term “bechasbid (stick)”, which is mentioned in the old versions and also in two authentic corrections, is. And whether it is in consistent with Sa’di’s style in this verse or not. Therefore, after examining the meaning of this term in different sources, he states that this term means “being superior”, “being better” or “prevailing”.
