Jesus character and Christianity symbols in the poem of Yosof al khal

Abstract:
The Arabic contemporary poem has faced a period in which, the poets tended to employ the prophets characters to utter poetic experiences, and social, cultural, and political conditions of their own era.The character of Jesus Christ(peace be upon him),is one of the most prominent character used among the contemporary pioneer poets who found it the most appropriate character to express pain, grief, loneliness, and the stagnation of their own society. little by little the Jesus character got its right place among Moslem and Christ poets in comparison with other prophets. Yosof Alkhal the most prominent Christ poet who commenced using Christ point of view in Arabic literature, and his poems have the colour of Christianity. This paper aims to study the Jesus Christ character and Christ symbols in this Lebanese poet by using descriptive-analytical method. the results show that understanding the poems of this poet is impossible, unless being aware of such symbols, because of the excessive number of such symbols in his poems. he has used such symbols to express the duality of death and the Resurrection Day. he has opened the window of hope and freedom through the killing death and devoting and sacrificing. and his long poems seem to be optimistic in contrary to its pessimistic commence.
