The Effectiveness of Family-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy on Suicidal Ideation, Depression Signs, Family Cohesion and Adaptability of Suicide Attempters
The aim of present study was the effectiveness of Family-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy on suicidal ideation, depression signs, family cohesion and adaptability of suicide attempters in Razi Hospital of Ahvaz. Six suicide attempter's male were selected using purposeful sampling.
Multiple baseline experimental single case study was used as the method of the present study. The Family-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy was carried out in three phase of baseline, intervention and follow-up and participants completed The Suicidal Ideation Scale (SIS), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-13) and Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (FACES-2).Data analyzed with visuals inspection, reliable change index (RCI) strategies and improvement percentage.
Family-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy had a significant effect in reducing suicidal ideation, depression signs and increasing family cohesion and Solution-Focused Therapy had only a significant effect on the reduction of suicidal ideation.
Results showed that both these therapies had positive efficient on target, but Family-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was more successful.
