Meta-Analysis of Effectiveness of Psychological Interventions - Counselling on Enhancing Marital Satisfaction (Iran: 2002-2012)

The main question in marriage is marital satisfaction. Marital satisfaction is one of the very important and complex aspects of marital relationship since many factors are involved and different interventions can influence it. Therefore, evaluation and validation of effectiveness of psychological interventions - counseling on marital satisfaction prove to be very important. This study with integration of difference research results aimed to determine the impact of psychological interventions - counseling on marriage and marital satisfaction. For this purpose, of some 45 researches, 33 were selected and meta-analysis was performed on them. Research instrument was a checklist of meta-analysis. The amount of effect size of psychological interventions-counseling on marriage and marital satisfaction was 1/25 p≤0/00001). according to Cohen's effect size, the interpretation table was high and the effect size indicated psychological interventions – counseling. In other words, psychological interventions - counseling are very effective in enhancing marital satisfaction.
