Investigation the role of geological structures to creating hydrogeological zones with different hydrochemical properties (Case study: Albaji plain)

Message:
Abstract:
The chemical quality of groundwater in each area is mainly impressed by various factors such as aquifer materials, climate and recharge sources, but another factors that sometimes control the quality of groundwater are geological structures, such as subsurface foldings and faults. Albaji plain is a synclinal structure that located between Karkheh and Karun rivers. The electrical conductivity of groundwater is highly variable in several points of the plain. To investigate subsurface structures, some sections of alluvial in different directions were drowned using well logs; and the role of effective factors on quality of groundwater was studied. Results show that the presence of Zeyn-Al-Abbas anticline that some part of it expanded under the surface, play an effective role in formation of hydrogeological zones with different hydrochemical properties.
