Occupational stress factors in nursing and midwifery staff at Rafsanjan university hospital during 2010

Employment and occupation play important role in man-kind life. It can induce stress to the employers which causes leaving tobjob, un-satisfaction and also presentin unfavorable services to the customers. With respect to the paramount important of nurses and midwives, health system the present study was carried out to identify stressful factors and also their score level on nurses and midwifery staff of Rafsanjan university hospitals. In this descriptive study, all nurses and obstetricians who are working at the hospitals of Rafsanjan city including Moradi, Niknafs and Ali-ebn-abitaleb hospitals were selected with census method. Data were collected by a researcher designed questionnaire including demographic and stressful factors. The data were analysed by using SPSS software version 13 and the chi-square distribution test. The studied nurses and midwives are 311 who 83% are female and married of Them. 59.8% are nurses who 84.2% working as a shift. They employed in the Moradi, Niknafs and Ali-ebn-abitaleb hospitals 7.7%, 27.6% and 63.7% respectively. The results demonstrated that psychological- body factors having the most stressful affects (65.5%) then economical factors with 63.9%. In addition, 49.9% of the studied population believed that social-culture factors had the least stressful affects. Regarding to the obtained results, psychological-body factors and social-culture factors could be considered to improve satisfaction and reduce stressful factors for nurses and obstetricians consequently develop care quality of patients.
