A Study on Kinetics and Modeling of Rubber Curing Process by Method of Moments
Author(s):
Abstract:
A study has been conducted on the kinetics and modeling of the curing process of a rubber blend. Different models are discussed on the basis of curing kinetics، mechanism and the mathematical relationship، application and their compatibility with mechanistic and real curing kinetics. The population balance equations as a modeling method have been considered because in the curing process and similar processes such as the polymerization reactions the balance of the number of reaction components becomes dramatically important and noticeable. Among the several methods for solving the population balance equations، the method of moments is one of the most unique methods. In solving these equations using the method of moments، it has been tried to reduce the computation costs and increase the prediction accuracy through fewer structural variables in the reaction system. The main advantage of the method of moments is its simple calculations and higher accuracy compared to the other similar methods. Its disadvantage is the inability to estimate the parameters of the probability distribution of a given family.
