An Analysis and Investigation of Shia Beliefs in Hamzieh of Ibn Hani, the Shia Poet of Andalusia
Author(s):
Abstract:
Muhammad Ibn Hani، the Shia poet of Andalusia، has used poetic language to express his religious beliefs. In his panegyric odes، he accepts Fatimids as the disciples of Imams and while stating their legitimacy and also the invalidity of Abbasid and Umayyad claims، he declares the legitimacy and innocence of Ahle Bait (the Prophet''s Household). The main points of Ibn Hani’s poems are beliefs such as Imamat (leadership)، intercession، determination، and forgiveness –the main beliefs of Shia – which have been used in the panegyrical parts of his Hamzieh ode. Considering the circumstances of the society where the Shiites were oppressed seriously، he couldn’t express these concepts frankly; therefore، he applies some special wittiness which only discerning and talented people in the Qur''anic concepts can understand. This study explains the principles of the Shia beliefs which Ibn Hani as a follower and an advocate of this religion has expressed and defended in his poems.
