Evaluate the Prevalence of Premature Labor and Its Related Factors in the Shahrood in 2012

Premature laborislabor that begins before the 37th week of pregnancyor 259 days before the first day of last menstrual period. Recognition of the prevalence and the factors that lead to Premature laborcould track and reduce the incidence of this disorder. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of premature laborand its related factors in Shahrood in 2012. This study is a prospective study. All pregnant women referred to Maternity of Fatemiyyeh، Imam Hussein and Khatam hospitals of Shahrood during 2012 that had inclusion criteria were studied. Information of the delivery method and related factors were recorded. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. In The study among of 4402 births in 2012، 350 cases (8%) were premature laborand 4052 patients (92%) had a term labor. There was relationship between age (p<0/02)، eclampsia and preeclampsia (p<0. 003)، premature rupture of membranes (p<0. 03)، Placental abruption (p<0/02)، placenta previa (p<0/02) and history of multiple gestation (p<0. 03) between two groups. Based on prevalence and factors associated with premature laborin this study، in addition to finding way to prevent this problem، it can decrease the cost of treatment of preterm birth and neonatal complications.
