Use of Media, Lifestyle and Quality of Life among Youth in Shiraz

Lifestyles affect human welfare and well-being of individuals. Lifestyles of people improve their ability. These relations are important in the quality of life and its components. Data were collected from survey of 745 young people from 15 to 29 years in Shiraz، using questionnaires about lifestyle and the World Health Organization Quality of Life questionnaire. Six type of life style separated in factor analysis. They are traditional religious lifestyle، ritual traditional lifestyle، body management and health، participatory leisure style and consumerist leisure style and modern music preference. All of the activities have significant relationship with quality of life but ritual religious lifestyle. The use of new and public media has shown a positive and significant relationship with lifestyle. The most important variable in the regression analysis were the new communications media، traditional religious lifestyle and leisure styles were entered into the regression equation with positive coefficient but new musical preferences entered the equation with negative coefficient. The results indicate that different levels of quality of life are associated with different lifestyles but some styles of life are more important for quality.
