A Feasibility Study on Applying School-Based Curriculum Development Approach in Framewok of the Three Wayes of Adoption, Adaption, and Revision

Abstract: This research by doing a feasibility study in field of theoretical and practical aspects of School Based Curriculum Development (SBCD) approach and by using the purposeful selection of middle schools in three provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, and Kurdistan attempts to find the processes, characteristics, weaknesses and strengths of doing revisions and adaptations in the stages of developing and implementing the curriculum of vocational and technical course of study in participated middle schools in three forms of adoption, adaption, and revision. 36 middle schools through 18 teams and 6 teams in each of the three mentioned distinct forms of SBCD spectrum in the three provinces followed the developing activities and then implementing the desired vocational and technical studies curriculum in the school years of 1390-91 and 1391-92. Each team consisted of 5 to 7 persons including the related school teachers of vocational and technical study and other related practitioners of two participated schools in each team. The research method in the three stages of research follows three natures of descriptive, developmental and evaluative. Doing observation in schools and filling the reports by school-coordinators are the critical research tools for data gathering from participated teams. Of the most important findings, research concludes that applying supplementary materials, enrichment resources, applying information and communication technologies and educational media differ regard the freedom, devolution and increasing the power of teams for curriculum adaption and revision in participated middle schools and schools in revision and then in adaption treatment do better in this regard.
