The effect of environmental index on mental health in nurses working in emergency and non emergency wards in Khorramabad hospitals

One of the challenges of modern society is to provide mental health especially in nurses. This study aimed to investigate the effect of environmental index on mental health in nurses working in emergency and non emergency wards in Khorramabad hospitals. This is a correlational study. The population consisted of all nurses in the hospital, which included 433 patients. The sample included 207 nurses with sampling in Ashayer hospital and census method in Tamin Ejtemaee hospital. Data collection included: Demografic Questionnaire, The General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), Work Environment Scale (WES) validity and reliability are prooven. Data were analysed by test t Independent, one-way ANOVA test and the Spearman correlation. In this study, 119 women and 88 men were studied that 43.30% of nurses were working in the emergency department and 57.69 percent were working in other parts. T tests showed a significant difference between the means of the independent mental health nurses in the emergency department 71.14 ± 19.29 compared to nurses in other sectors 48.13 ± 13.30) (p=0.654). Based on the results, however employees in emergency wards experience more trouma due to their job history, there was no significant meaning between mental health disorders and psychological stress in nurse working in emergency and non-emergency wards.
