The Word from the Viewpoint of the Qurān and New Testament
Author(s):
Abstract:
The term of “Word” in Qurān and The New Testament has different meanings, that the most important of them is description of the nativity of Jesus. Creation of Christ in Qurān spells as an unrepeatable miracle whilst in the gospel of Saint John a divinity aspect has been granted to it. Therefore, the meaning and concept of this term have been researched by Islamic interpreters and premier church fathers have been faced many challenges about it. Whilst Moslems know Jesus as a prophet, Christians consider him as incarnation of God on the earth. This article, by utilization descriptive and analytical method, and studying works and ideas of these theologians, attempts to study these two different views. Although it is not possible to find any adaptation or compatibility between them, it is believed that by precise and profound study of these two Holy books, far from any prejudice, bias and debate, we can reach an empathic view to find a peaceful coexisting between followers of these religions.
