A report on the Alternaria species and its similar genera in Hamedan province

Abstract:
During the years of 2012 to 2013, samples were taken from farms, gardens and different habitats of the Hamedan province, in order to collect and identify of Alternaria species and its similar genera. Totally, about 110 strains of these fungi were separated from different hosts. Based on morphological features, these strains are belonged to genera of Alternaria, Embellisia, Stemphylium and Ulocladium. According to recent molecular studies, species which belonged to the Embellisia and Ulocladium genera were transferred and renamed to the Alternaria genus. Therefore, the identified species of these genera are provided by the name of Alternaria here. The 110 strains obtained from genera of Alternaria and Stemphylium are included 18 species: Alternaria alternata, A. arborescense, A. infectoria, A. tenuissima, A. dumosa, A. solani, A. rosae, A. embellisia, A. chlamydosporigena, A. atra, A. botrytis, A. consortialis, A. cantlous, A. multiformis, Stemphylium alfalfa, S. botryosum, S. herbarum and S. vesicarium. Among which A. rosae, A. cantlous and A. multiformis are new for mycoflora of Iran.
