The Persian-Tajiki Language in the Epoch of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamedani

Mir Sayyid Hamedani’s life period (1314-1386 AD) corresponds with destroys of Mongolian khans’ domination, appearance of Sarbedaran revolt (hanged men revolt) and beginning of Timurid domination. Persian-Dari or so to call today, Persian-Tajiki language used to be the general international language in great part of Asia (Central Asia, Small Asia, Western Asia, Eastern and Sothern Asia) and different tribes and nationalities used to speak it. This article studies the state of Persian language in the period after Mongolian attack based on the materials of Ibn Batuta’s “Safarnama” (The adventures of Ibn Batuta). According to the documents of “Safarnoma” due to the migration of Khurasan and Farorud’s intelligentsia to Indian kings’ courts (palaces), Persian language developed among courtiers of India. Persian language developed in Temurian life before dismissing of Bahodurshah, the last temuri king. Having referred to samples of writing letters by Timurid kings (Shahs) two methods of prose writing have been presented in this article: unclear prose writing with licentious rhyme and simple and clear prose writing. Samples are provided below from theses of Mir Sayyid Ali Hamedani, in particular from “Quddusiya”, “Vujudiya”, “Zikriya”, “Darveshiya” and from some other of his works. Consequently, Persian language of this time was a simple and clear language.
