The Relation of Identity Processing Styles, and Conflict Resolution Strategies with Psychological Well-Being

The aim of the current study was to investigate the relation between identity processing styles, and conflict resolution strategies with psychological well-being among pre university students of Tehran. 349 subjects (164 male and 185 female) among students of schools of Tehran have been selected by cluster sampling. In order to collect the following measures were administered: data, the Identity Style Inventory (ISI; Berzonsky, 1993), the Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory-II (ROCI-II; Rahim, 1990), and Ryff 2009) Psychological Well-Being Test. Findings showed that informational style, normative style and commitment had a positive significant relation and diffuse/avoidance style had a negative relation with psychological well-being. Furthermore, among conflict resolution strategies; integrating strategy, obliging strategy, and compromising strategy had a positive correlation and avoiding strategy had a negative correlation with psychological well-being was observed. Also, there was no significant relation between dominating strategy and psychological well being. The results obtained from stepwise regression analysis showed that identity commitment has main role in predicting psychological well-being.
