Perceiving Childhood Attachment in a Causal Model of Anger Outbreak and Control with Respect to the Correspondence Between Attributional Styles and Attachment to God

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to codify a model for anger outbreak and anger control in relation to the role of parent attach-ment, and the correspondence between attach-ment to God and attributional styles. To do so, using random multiple stage cluster sampling, 350 kashmar Azad University students were selected. The subjects completed the following questionnaires: Measure of Childhood Attach-ment to Each Parent, Measure of Attachment Style to God, Attributional Style Questionnaire, and State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-2. For analyzing data, factor analysis and the structural equation modeling techniques were used. Results showed that attachment to God, especially ambivalent attachment, mediates the relationship between attachment to parents and anger, which suggests the importance of emotional connection with God. Furthermore, the results explain mother attachment is related to anger control through attachment to God and attributional styles. Results were discussed in terms of the role of correspondence process and the kind of attributional styles in anger control.
