Sociological Study of Social Well-being Feeling Criteria of Mashhad's Citizenry

The current research paper seeks to comparatively study the social wellbeing indices of Mashhad citizens in 2015. Research theoretical framework has been studied emphasizing Keyes ideas. The research, which contains a survey, is descriptive. Taking Cochran’s sample size formula as its basis for determining the size of the population under study. The research selects 660 people of 16-64 year-old Mashhad citizens living in low, middle and upper class districts of the city through cluster sampling. The required data was gathered administering Keyes standardized questionnaire and the obtained Cronbach’s alpha was 0.78. Part of results indicates that the amount of feeling of enjoying social well-being is equal to %48.2. Moreover, the highest score of mean dependent variable among the citizens domiciled in upper-class city districts )Districts 1, 9, 11( was for social acceptance )%91.3( and for social prosperity )%87.3(. The highest score of mean dependent variable among the citizens domiciled in lowerclass city districts )Districts 5, 6, 3( was for social participation )%21.4( and for social coherence )12.4( and the highest score reported for those living in middle-class districts )Districts 8, 10, 2( was for social conformity )11.4(. The results indicate that the average index of social welfare varies among the citizens. Besides, a significant difference was observed between gender and the feeling of social welfare, but there was not such significance difference between being married and the feeling of social welfare. The results also show that there is a significant relationship between age, the economic and social status of the citizens and their feeling of social wellbeing.
