Relationship between executive functions with sensory processing patterns in autistic student

Abstract:
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between executive function with sensory processing patterns in children with autism 7-12 years old, from the perspective of teachers.
Method
design of this study was corelational. After reviewing of entry criteria, 50 children 7-12 years old were selected as the sample using purposive sampling method. To assess sensory processing patterns was used of Dunn sensory profile (school component) and to assess executive functions was used of behavioral rating inventory of executive functions (BRIEF). For data analysis, descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation) and Pearson correlation was used.
Results
The results showed that a significant negative correlation between the sensory processing patterns with executive functions in autistic children in the 0/01 level.
Conclusion
The findings of this study suggest that we can use sensory processing interventions to improve executive functions in autism disorder.
