Globalization and the Necessity of General Education in Global Citizenship Education

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to study the areas of global citizenship education in the curriculum of general academic courses in Iran. It is an applied research with the qualitative approach has been utilized through qualitative content analysis methodology of thematic analysis at two levels of selective documents and chapters approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. Note taking and check list were used to collect information and data. Descriptive and analytical methods were used for data interpretation and analysis. According to the findings of the research, the level of the issues related to globalization from the qualitative aspect, from the lesson to the lesson, has a significant degree of severity and weakness. Content is often indirectly associated with globalization and has a neutral footing. The existing approach to educating a global citizen in Iran is a combination of approaches to political, civilian, cultural transfer and neo-liberal approach. There is no distinction between globalization and internationalization.
