Coverage of local news in channel 1 and Jam-e-jam 1 based on Peter Ballantyne's model

What led to study on local news in news "21" of channel 1 and Jam-e-Jam 1, was the important role of local channels in presenting a part of content to national audiences and the emphasis on usage of this content in maintenance and distribution of local culture in IRIB strategic and referential documents like Ofogh-Resaneh. This research aims to clarify the rate of usage of local news in news parts of national and abroad channels. So it was applied the goalkeeping theory and Peter Ballantyne's model. The methodology of this research was content analysis. The whole local news which broadcasted in first half of 1392, in news "21" of channel 1 and news "24" of channel Jam-e-Jam 1 were studied. Using a two-step stratified sampling, one month was selected. According to results of this research, channel 1 has used local news approximately 2 times higher than Jam-e-Jam 1. The results showed about two-third (64%) of local news that was shown in channel 1, had local origin but national application while about one-third (36%) of these news, had both national origin and application. In the news "24" of channel Jam-e-Jam 1, this ratio was respectively 53% and 47%. There was not found any local or national news in neither of these two news parts.
