Analysis of bibliographic characteristics and historical trend of publication of Persian articles on reference services and sources

Abstract:
Purpose
This research attempted to investigate bibliographic characteristics and historical trend of publication of Persian articles on reference services and sources.
Method
This study is a of a review type which used content analysis method. Phrases and keywords related to reference services and sources were used to search databases and journals in the field of library science. 75 articles were identifies and classified based on the two topics under investigation.
Findings: The first article was published in 1976 and then no articles was published until 1992. The decade 2000s with 44 articles is the proliferation era of publishing articles on reference services and sources in Persian. The year 2008 with 10 articles achieved the highest rank. The decade 2010’s witnessed articles on information systems, users, and book reviews.
Results
The results will reveal the gap in this regard and can help researchers as the route map to direct research in the field of reference services and sources. The can also increase the quality and quantity of the articles published in this field.
