Investigation of a Novel Absorption-recompression Refrigeration System Using a Compressor Between Generator and Condenser

Abstract:
In this paper, in order to improve the performance of lithium bromide- water absorption refrigeration system using compressor between the generator and condenser of the cycle, is analyzed and compared with a conventional absorption refrigeration cycle. In present work, the effect of changing various parameters of the systems on the operating parameters is analyzed and compared. Because of the importance of crystallization phenomena in absorption cycles with salt as a component of the operating solution, it is investigated in different operating conditions. In order to prevent this phenomenon in the cycles, at each operating condition, temperature and concentration of solution at entrance of absorber is compared with crystallization line and the range of allowable generator temperature is specified. The results show that, at low generator temperatures, absorption-recompression cycle has better performance than that of conventional cycle from the view point of first and second laws of thermodynamic. In some, operating conditions, this improvement can reach higher than 100% and 70% increment of COP and second law efficiency respectively. With higher pressure ratio of compressor, absorption-recompression cycle starts to operate at lower generator temperatures. This feature enables the absorption-recompression cycle to utilize low temperature heat sources such as waste heat, solar and geothermal.
