The Measurement and Analysis of Productivity General Indices in Economic Sectors of Iran; New Approach

Productivity is one of the important macroeconomic subjects, especially in area of economic growth. This study, introduces new method for measuring Productivity indices base on capital services value (Regarding statistical sources, SNA93, CBI of Iran) and it provides possibility of accounting the indices for all of economic activities, in particular services sector. Also, first time total and partial Productivity indices are measured and analysized on separation 17 sectors of Iran economical, social and cultural. Because of calculation of Productivity indices farther up from labor force and capital factors, it not only enable us how to measure productivity of intermediate consumption but also traces the redistribution effect of resources in the cases where the activities are outsourced, and is used output value as outflow in measuring productivity indices. Furthermore, At macro level indices of total factor Productivity (TFP) are calculated on Tornquist approximate of Divisia index.
The results shows that productivity indices at 1996-2006 period, agriculture sector is the most successful of sector in using of optimal resources and that it got 47 percentage from its production growth through TFP promotion. Against, sectors of oil and gas extraction and refining, minerals others, electricity, gas and water supply, fishing, hotel and general affairs administration, defend and social security wont success, and all production growth were to using greater resources. On the whole, based on these findings not only provide preparations and necessary facilities to execute article 79, law of development 5th plan, but also lead to increasing careful of Productivity indices measurement and separating it in economic sectors level and so evaluating operation of the index in Iran at compare other success countries. Finally this paper has aimed to offer some recommendations towards the improvement in statistical systems used by the relevant entities engaged in productivity measurement in Iran.
