Structural model of relationship between stress, self-efficacy and burnout in Elementary teachers

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of stress in school and selfefficacy in burnout of teachers based on structural equation modeling. In a correlational design, 330 teachers from North Khorasan Province were selected by multistage random sampling method and completed Source of School Stress Questionnaire (Kyriacou & Sutcliffe, 1978), Teachers self efficacy scale (Skaalvik & Skaalvik, 2007) and Teachers burnout Scale (Maslach et al, 1996) . The results showed that there was a significant relationship between teacher`s stress and self-efficacy with burnout. Indirect effects were also significant and the structural model had a suitable fit. School stress seems to be a positive predictor of burnout among teachers while self-efficacy is a negative predictor.
