The effectiveness of participation in psycho- educational program based on Guttmann''s systemic- behavioral approach on couple burnout and irrational relationship beliefs in married women with attitudes towards marital infidelity

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of participation in psycho- educational program based on Guttmann’'s systemic- behavioral approach on couple burnout and irrational relationship beliefs in married women with attitudes towards marital infidelity. The method of the study was quasi-experimental with the pretest, post-test and control group design. The statistical population included women referring to psychiatric and psychological counseling services in Tehran city in year 2018. In the study 30 women with attitudes towards marital infidelity were chosen as samples and randomly were divided in 2 groups of individuals as control and experimental. The experimental groups practiced the participation in psycho- educational program based on Guttmann’'s systemic- behavioral approach for seven 120-minute weekly sessions. Then, post-test was performed for them. For data collecting, the couple burnout of scale Pines (2003), development of a measure of dysfunctional belief scale of Eidelson and Epstein (1982) and attitudes toward infidelity scale of Whatley (2008) were used. Data analysis was done by using multivariate analysis of multi covariance by SPSS 24 software at a significant level less than 0.05. Statistical data analysis illustrated participation in psycho- educational program based on Guttmann’'s systemic- behavioral approach that amounts of couple burnout and irrational relationship beliefs in married women with attitudes towards marital infidelity were significantly decreasing in experimental than control group. According the findings of this study, participation in psycho- educational program based on Guttmann’'s systemic- behavioral approach can be a good approach to decreasing couple burnout and irrational relationship beliefs in married women with attitudes towards marital infidelity.
