The Islamic Revolution of Iran has been effective as a major revolution in the transformation of the international system. The Islamic Revolution of Iran took place in a Cold War-based bipolar international system, in which Iran was considered a key contributor to the US-led West Camp. The first Cold War conflict between the superpowers took place over Iran, and Iran, as the central member of the Central Treaty Organization, was connecting two other Western military allies, NATO and SEATO, to the East. In addition, most of the economic, military, technical, expertise, and intelligence-security assistance was provided outside of NATO to Iran. As a result, Iran was considered as a full perfect Western ally which was considered "the first bumper" against the East in the north and "West Gendarmerie" in the Persian Gulf.
