The role of gender in learning the four language skills of Arabic by nonnative Arabic learners: A case study of Imam Sadiq University

The second language has a main role in the life as a major tool for communication. Thus it is tried to develop it based on the people' abilities and features from the fist steps of teaching second language.
The present study investigates the role of sexual differences on learning Arabic four skills. There are different views about the effect of sexual differences (male and female) on second language learning. Lingual four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and the methodology of conveying them to the learner are the main issue and common point of all views and methods presented in second language teaching era till now. The purpose of this study is to answer to this question that what effect sex has on learning Arabic four skills. For answering this question, hypothesis were tested through scientific comparative method and t-test. Purposeful sampling was used for collecting data from 100 male and female students of Imam Sadiq University. The students were investigated by a questionnaire having 40 questions on lingual disorders in four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The result of study showed that there is a significant difference of performance in four language skills between male and female students. The speaking skill of girls was 25 percent better than that of boys, and boy's performance was 45 percent more than that of girls.
There is no significant difference between average of listening and writing skills of boys and girls.
