The contexts for the emergence and growth of extremism in Central Asia: case study ISIS

Abstract:
One of Takfiri movements which in recent years have brought violence and extremism in the West Asia is a movement called ISIS. This movement due to reasons such as absence of democracy and citizen rights, bigotry and backwardness, has emerged and has been able to sustain itself by the financial and logistics support of some regional and extra regional states for five years and has introduced the most serious challenge for the regional states. Given the nature of ISIS and its objectives and outlooks, it can be potentially a threat for Central Asia. this paper with apply the theory of encounter with modernity and the theory of failed states, seeking to the possibility and impossibility of Isis in the region. The authors are believes that Islamist movements in Central Asia are partly influenced by extremist views in the West Asia and as these views contradict with modernity ideas, the condition is ripe for the presence of ISIS. However, despite relatively stable authoritarian governments in Central Asia ISIL's presence in this area is limited. Our research method in this article is descriptive-analytic and we have used library and internet for collecting data.
