Investigating the effect of a constructed breakwater on the pattern of wave and current in Jask Port using MIKE21

The effect of a constructed breakwater on the pattern of wave and current in the coastal area of Jask has been investigated. Wind and wave field data of the year 2003 has been used for this investigation. MIKE software has been employed to simulate the situation for two scenarios. It was found that the breakwater has a significant influence on the current direction. It was found that mean significant wave height and current speed was reduced to 0.19m and 0.021m/s inside the basin, respectively. These values were recorded as 1.23m and 0.049m/s consecutively for the same point, before the construction.
