The impact of patrimonialistic culture on cultural development of Qajar and Pahlavi period; break or continuity

Development is one of the concepts that many developing countries, to achieve it, bring about changes in their social, political and cultural structures order to increase their efficiency and accountability. However, the achievement of the development and, in particular, cultural development requires a change in the system of beliefs and facing with the organized radical opposition. Patrimonialism is also regarded as one of the sustainable cultural concepts of Iranian society, which as a preventive agent, has encountered the development achievement in Iran with series problems and also features like cultural qualities such as autocracy, self-centeredness and lack of belief in Citizens Collaboration in political affairs of the persistent aspects of Iran's political culture of the Qajar and Pahlavi periods, which despite the constitutional revolution as well as formation of new components of participatory political culture has continued and has slowed down the cultural development process. But, with the advent of the Islamic Revolution, like the Constitutional Revolutionary period, a rupture again in line with cultural development was created. However, the available proportions in patrimonial culture ,since the individuals passivity concerning the political system opposes, is distanced from the components of cultural development based on the collaboration of citizens and their active engagement with political system. Therefore, this study, seeks to investigate the impact of the continuity of Iranian patrimonial culture as a constant element in political culture of Qajar and Pahlavi on cultural development of these two periods using Anthony Giddens's Theory of structuration.
