Analysis of Ornamental Motives in Kharazmshahid Mosque Architecture in Khorasan Based on Traditionalism

The art of decoration in Iranian architecture had an important role during Islamic period. Principals of aesthetics, determined in Islamic art especially middle centuries era such as kharazmashid period, guides the curious mind to the deep meaning hidden in the art . Traditionalism approach is one of the common methods for interpretation of cultural material in Islamic art. In this approach time and place have been indestructible. Also, traditionalism was used by Sufism elements for their interpretation. In this research, kharazmashahid mosque has been studied in Khorasan by traditionalism approach for interpretation of forms and motifs. The research was carried out by descriptive and analytical methods focused on all motifs and elemental aspects such as inscription, plan and material in mosque.In this research, kharazmashahid mosque was studied in Khorasan by traditionalism approach for interpretation of form and motifs using descriptive and analytical methods focused on all motifs and elemental aspects such as inscription, plan and material in mosque. The results of this paper show that there are relationships between wisdom, tradition and meaning in Islamic architecture during kharazmshahid era.
