Investigating the role of desire to prayer in reducing the tendency to divorce among student couples

Abstract:
Divorce is one of the important social phenomena. An increase that in any society is causing some of the other social pathologies. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between tendency to divorce and the role of prayer in reducing it. -The research design is descriptive and correlation and it is and applied study. The study population includes all the married students of the Faculty of Education and Psychology in Birjand University studying in 96-1395 at undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D levels. Sample was selected by using simple random sampling method and it was 100 persons. Data were collected by using questionnaire of desire to divorce of Roosevelt Johnson and Morrow (1986), with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.91 and questionnaire of practical dedication and commitment to prayer of Anisi, Navidi and Hosseininejad Nasrabad (1388) with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.92. Data were analyzed by using Pearson correlation, regression analysis and one-sample t test. The results of one-sample t test showed that the mean score of subjects regarding tendency to divorce was less than the mean of test. Also, the mean score of subjects regarding desire to prayer was more than the mean of test. The results of Pearson correlation test showed that there is a significant negative relationship between the desire to prayer and tendency to divorce. Also, the results of regression analysis showed that the variable of serious commitment to prayer can significantly predict the tendency to divorce among couples. When people seek to perform religious practices such as prayer, they feel the pleasure of communicating with the source of perfection and excellence. Them to reach perfection, are motivated; Incentives that encourage them to live good and avoiding the bad things.
