Abstract:
The Concepts of sea and the Persian Gulf have particular places in the poems of Hormozgani poets who have been active in the literature of this region since 1330's. This paper aims to examine the concepts of sea and the Persian Gulf in the works of native poets of Hormozgan province. The related research has been conducted descriptively based on the document and content analysis method. The study consists of two main phases: 1) presentation and description of related concepts; 2) data analysis, inference, and conclusion. The concept of sea is frequently used in the poems of Hormozgani poets; however, there are some obvious semantic differences in the usage of this word. South Iranian poets have used the word "sea" sometimes to refer to one of the indigenous features of this region and sometimes to highlight it as a symbol of their homeland. They have also considered it as a gate leading to modernism for this land and have a particular view of the sea in this regard. During recent decades, stream of consciousness has also prompted native poets to employ the word "sea" in its abstract sense and beyond its surface meaning.
