Relationship between Coping Strategies and Job Stress with Job Satisfaction in Qom Province

The purpose of this study was to determine relationship between coping strategies and job stress with job satisfaction of school headmasters in Qom province. This research was correlational and population included all of school headmasters of Qom province. The study sample consisted of 228 headmasters who were selected by multi-stage random cluster sampling method. They answered to questionnaire of Ender& Parker (1990), coping strategies questionnaire, Job stress questionnaire and job description questionnaire. The data were analyzed by correlation and stepwise regression analysis. The findings showed that job stress and problem-focused coping strategy along with avoidance-focused (appraisal-focused) coping strategy can predict variance changes of job satisfaction. Avoidance –focused (appraisalfocused) coping strategy cannot predict variance changes of job satisfaction. Emotion-focused problem-focused coping strategy can predict variance changes of job satisfaction. Job stress can also predict variance changes of job satisfaction. Problem-focused coping strategy can also predict job related stress variance changes. Skills training to deal with problems can have important role to reduce stress and increase job satisfaction.
