The Concept of Spiritual Health and its Features in the Quran and Hadiths

Despite numerous studies regarding spiritual health over the past decades, there are still many fundamental questions on this topic and there is no agreement regarding the responses among the elites and experts of this field. The definition of “spirituality” and thus, “spiritual health” are the main issues in this field. This article is based on analytical descriptive assessment and by sharing the infallible holy Quran and Hadiths, describes the concept of spiritual health and its dimensions. Although the word “spirituality” and “spiritual health” are not mentioned in the Quran and Hadiths, the concept and features of spiritual health however, can be found in the pattern of Quranic interpretation of a peaceful heart. Actually, the heart is the border between the animal soul and human soul and the degree of self-truth that transcendental tendencies, perceptions of a person, mental thinking, emotions and inner feelings and human needs, are attributed to it. From the point of the holy Quran and hadiths, the peaceful heart can be explained in several dimensions: mental, wisdom, and emotional health, soulful health and behavioral health.
