Investigating the relationship between computer games addiction and academic failure in high school students in Zahedan

Computer games represent an impressive and dynamic step forward beyond traditional gaming and even
beyond the entertainment of watching TV. These games today account for most of the world market. The
purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of computer games addiction on the academic dropout of
high school students in Zahedan. This descriptive-correlational study was conducted in year 96 and the
statistical population included all the first grade students who were selected through 170 available
methods. The data gathering tool was a computer addiction inventory. Data were analyzed using mean test,
standard deviation, t test and analysis of variance using 23spss software. The results of the research showed
that the amount of computer game use and students' academic failure are high. Computer games also cause
students to lose their education (p <0.01). The results show the effect of the relationship between computer
play and academic failure. Whether or not you want to, we must accept that computer games, like many
other phenomena in the age of information technology, have come to our lives and are one of the funs of
children, teens, young people and even adults in the new era. Therefore, it should be taught through
effective training and proper use of the computer.
