The Effect of Accruals Quality in the Access to Bank Debt

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of accruals quality in the access to bank debt at listed companies in Tehran Stock Exchange. This Study is applied research and methods of the post facto. To achieve the aim, the numbers of 110 companies were selected for the period 2005-2012. We consider several accruals quality proxies (Dechow and Dichev, 2002; McNichols, 2002; Ball and Shivakumar, 2006). We using statistical technique of panel data regression for analyze data and test. The results show that there is a significant difference between the first and fourth quarter accrual for all standards of quality. This means that companies with higher presence of bank debt have higher accruals quality. The results showed that the quality of accruals is easy access to bank debt. Further findings show that, even when other determinants of bank debt and internal factors may be between bank debt and accruals quality control, the quality of the relationship between accruals and bank debt is positive. The results showed a significant difference between the proxies accruals quality no access to bank debt.
